Herman Cain throws his critics a life ring

Herman Cain has been getting slammed recently by the establishment types who fear his rising popularity. So when the announcement that Mr. Cain had a sexual harassment claim against him, they grasped at it like drowning sailors for a life ring.

The rumblings had been building for days as Herman Cains message of radical tax changes, smaller government and self reliance gained traction throughout the country. In many polls he is the front runner, meaning he has a big target on his back and the critics aren't holding back.

But this is the GOP primary, which is usually reserved for the internecine fights between GOP candidates and usually doesn't draw in the liberal establishment at this point.

But this is different. Before the announcement of the harassment claim, Mr. Cain had been subjected to the same sort of hi tech lynching of his character that Clarence Thomas had to bear many years ago. Seems that the left doesn't approve of a conservative black man who lives and speaks his beliefs. Mr. Cain is wayward from the "groupthink" that is the hallmark of the liberal black establishment, so the long knives came out for him.

------------------------The usual suspects stepped up to the microphone to criticize the audacity of a black conservative who dares to run for the high public office. Harry Belafonte called Herman Cain a "bad apple", but at the same time praised Fidel Castro. Princeton University professor Cornel West said Cain's remarks reflect a "coldness toward poor people." Julian Bond said “I am not aware of anything Herman Cain has done to uplift black people specifically.” You must be joking Julian! Even others have said it is a GOP strategy to say our best friend is black.

You would think the liberal black establishment would be proud to see Herman Cain rising to first position in the GOP race. But just the contrary, he is being met with resistance. Fox News commentator and former NPR commentator Juan Williams was outraged about the amount of venom spewed toward Herman Cain and said so on the radio today.

Whatever comes out of all of this, I think it has done one thing for sure: Unmasked a liberal glass ceiling of racism which many Americans didn't know was there.

Mr. Cains challenge is that he must meet this harassment charge head on and deal with it, just like he has done with other obstacles faced in the past. Herman Cain can look on this as an opportunity to emerge even stronger, if he can pull it off. The American people like him and want him to succeed.

The left's proposed diaper law: No behind, left behind

In yet another step down the one way chute of nanny statism, a "courageous progressive lawmaker," Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro from Connecticut, has boldly found yet another unique way to spend other peoples money. It seems liberalism's never ending quest of avoiding responsibility for ones responsibilities, has now brought us to the brink of having a federal diaper law. The proposed law will provide disposable diapers and accessories to "needy families."

This odoriferous law, is a reflection of the mentality portrayed in television programs like "16 and pregnant," where it is actually socially acceptable and a "choice" to get pregnant out of wedlock.

The Father is being written out of the script and substituted with a daddy: Big Daddy government.

The third world, "takes a village" to raise a child syndrome, is bringing us generations of children dependent on government programs. These programs originally designed to be temporary stop gap measures by helping those who are in a bind, have become permanent ways of life for millions.

They raise children on a false premise that government policies are best and will take care of them, they are not raised to be self reliant. Some of that mentality and disappointment is reflected at Occupy Wall Street. Many down there are disillusioned with what they were promised and what was delivered. This sort of disappointment is not supposed to happen in America, where everyone gets a trophy for participation and no one loses. Where playgrounds have become "risk free" Nanny staters have made playgrounds too safe.

Ironically before she became a member of Congress, Rep. DeLauro was chief of staff to Senator Chris Dodd, one of the main players in bringing us the sub prime mortgage meltdown. Another example of a good intentioned law that turned out to have disastrous consequences for the country. Not that a diaper law would have have the monumental effect on our country that a sub prime mortgage law would, but it is symptomatic of an underlying mentality.

It seems the progessive movement in America is on a headlong rush to model itself after the rest of the worlds failed socialist/cradle to grave nanny states which are toppling into fiscal bankruptcy. Of course the United States is 15 trillion in debt, it's credit rating lowered and would be technically bankrupt, except we have printing presses working overtime to fund our out of control spending.

If America is going to continue on as a going concern, perhaps it is time for people to pay for the disposable diapers their own children use and not rely on the rest of the village to pay for them. Come to think of it, what is wrong with cloth diapers?

America suffers energy thirst but can't drink

The disabled ship drifted helplessly for weeks in the Atlantic. The storm that shattered their mast, had pushed them far out of normal sailing routes near South America. They had run out of food, water and now hope was almost gone. But like so often in the history of mankind, when it seems the last card has played and the die is cast, a sail appeared on the horizon. As it drew closer, the crew, delirious with thirst, stood on the rails waving their arms, begging the other ship for water. The captain of the other ship yelled back: "Lower down your buckets!" Confused, the crew didn't understand, until the Captain explained they were off the coast of Brazil and the mighty Amazon River pours its waters more than 100 miles out into the ocean....They had been surrounded by fresh water for the last two weeks and didn't know it.

America finds itself in a similar situation, except ours is a thirst for energy and we, the crew members, are being denied the opportunity to let our buckets down. But this thirst is not by accident or ignorance, it is planned, willful and deliberate. In this case our Captain has sailed us on to the shoals of foreign energy dependence when in reality we have all of the energy we need right here in North America.

North Dakota is in the middle of an energy boom as oil rigs and companies start to exploit the huge Bakken oil field. This oil field crosses state lines and goes up into Canada. The potential energy under the ground is massive. Oilmen have known about the Bakken reserve for years, but the technology wasn’t capable of extracting it until recently with great advances in drilling and recovery techniques. The other silver lining attached to the gold lining of this boom is that North Dakota has a 3.5% unemployment rate

This technology has lead to the capability of also recovering massive amounts of natural gas, a clean burning economical fuel. Some estimates have reported we have a hundred year supply right here in the United States. If government cooperated and fast tracked areas for resource exploration, America could see a rebound in it’s economy not seen in years.

You would think the administration would be bursting with exictement over this new technology and energy supply and promoting its use in making our country energy self sufficient, but facts are proving otherwise. Besides the shock of seeing taxpayer funded solar companies going belly up because they are not economically feasible, it seems the administration wants to punish oil companies too, besides the punishment they are meting out to coal companies:

Seems when Presidential candidate, Barack Obama said his policies would make energy prices necessarily skyrocket, he was serious. Even though we are sitting on some of the largest reserves of oil, gas and coal in the world, we are being hamstrung by administration policies. Policies, which in turn are crippling our economy.

It is very conceivable that America could become energy self sufficient with the right leaders. If American focus was directed at exploiting our own resources, including hydroelectric, to become energy self sufficient, our economy would explode. Cheap, plentiful, domestic energy is the key to a healthy growing economy. It IS the engine of growth.

Canada saw the light a few years back when it was mired in its own recession, they decided to exploit their natural energy resources and now that countrys economy is booming. We should learn from them. Unshackling American ingenuity can make us energy independent with the proven resources we already know we have. Let the electric cars, the solar and the wind catch up, when/ if they can. Let America lower it's buckets.

Ski masks car bombs and executions, we have 'troubles' on our border

The "troubles" in Ireland were hallmarked by identities of combatants cloaked in ski masks. Taking a page out of this book, it seems ski masks are now the latest fashion trend in hot hot Mexico, a country not known for it's ski resorts

In Mexico, just like during the troubles in Ireland, ski masks are worn by combatants to hide their identities. But in Mexico, law enforcers also wear ski masks to hide their identities, because retribution and payback are the name of the game. Innocents are not out of bounds and extended families are now considered targets of those involved in this narco terrorist war.

In Ireland where the violence was real and deadly, it was mostly in the name of a cause and to make a point for a political goal. Many had died for that goal in the name of freedom. The endgame was to gain power by those who were left out of the power structure. The violence brought to the table players that had previously refused to negotiate and a peace ensued.

Mexico has had an affinity for the Irish over the years and the Irish have shown a love for Mexico. Irish have always had a sense of fair play and when they saw the vast disparity between the rich and poor throughout Mexico's existence, the Irish people could understand and would want to see that disparity end. Besides that, Irish and Mexicans share a Catholic religion that tie us together, in unique cultural ways.

So when we see the violence that is plaguing Mexico, some see it as symptomatic of the disparity between the haves and have nots in that country. Violence cloaked in a narco terrorist war being fueled by Americas insatiable thirst for illegal drugs.

In parts of Mexico drug cartels are looked upon by local citizens as their own government, dispensing jobs, financial help, protection, civic improvements and some form of justice.

There are more than two sides to this violent battle going on for the control of Mexico. It is many sided, there are rival drug cartels as well as the government of Mexico itself who are struggling for control of the country. Many would argue that this violence and so called "drug war" would never have germinated if Mexico had governed its citizens fairly all along. Mexico has vast natural resources and beauty, but wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few. The "poor" lifestyle in the United States would be considered "rich" in most parts of Mexico.

Violence in the form of beheadings, mass murder and car bombs, are becoming Mexico's trademark. You can stand on the edge of the Rio Grande and look across that river to Mexico. If you are near the once sleepy towns of Juarez, or Nuevo Laredo, better wear your Kevlar vest, because bullets are flying.

Mexico's President, Felipe Calderone, has repeatedly asked for Americas help in quelling this violence. His requests have not been so much for military support, but for America to do something about the great thirst for the illegal drugs that flow across the border from Mexico to the USA. In that vein, there have been many calls for the decriminalization of drugs in the United States. If this could be accomplished there would be an instantaneous quelling of Americas thirst for illegal drugs, because those illegal drugs would now be "legal and this would probably neutralize a lot of the violence in Mexico.

However this turns out, the narco/drug wars are symptomatic of underlying root problems in both Mexico and the United States. Until those underlying problems are addressed, both countries will be at war....with themselves. It is time to sit down and address these problems that bring us the narco terrorism that is tearing at the fabric of both countries.

Harry Reid says the private sector is doing fine, many disagree

The leader of the US Senate said our private sector is doing fine, but it's the public sector that needs help. I suppose if your sealed living environment is Washington DC then this might make perfect sense to you.

Private sector Lobbyists are fully employed at our nations capital showering all of our politicians with attention.....and other things. I'll bet it would seem there are so many lobbyists you could fill the Potomac with them and walk across without getting your feet wet. Not a bad idea actually.

Of course the economic ring around Washington DC area is experiencing quite a rosy economy with all of the shiny new government rules and regulations for the rest of us to live under. It is a full time job for hundreds of thousands of the public sector to central plan our great country and get it pointed in the right direction....Hey watch out for that cliff!

But Senator, I suggest you go back and visit your home state of Nevada. The constituents of the Sagebrush State have a 13.5% unemployment rate and a large percentage of the rest of them are underemployed. Talk to them and see if they agree with your estimation. While your at it, see if they would vote for you again if they got the chance. But thankfully (for you), you are securely ensconced in your seat for another 5 years, so no worry about your pesky home state constituents. Of course no worry for your personal unemployment either.

But it does seem that there is an emergency for Senator Reid & Co. Seems the emergency now is to hire public sector teachers for another year, by passing Obamas "jobs bill". This bill is about funding teachers for a year in political battleground states that can't afford it. But if anyone has been noticing, even after the extra billions already spent, Americas bang for it's buck from the education dollar isn't exactly paying dividends.

Even Joe Biden's off teleprompter remarks yesterday were strangely hysterical when he said that Americans would get raped and killed if the Republicans didn't pass Obamas 35 billion dollar "jobs bill". This is designed to put more fire fighters and police on the streets....for one year.

But that's where the crux of the problem is, it is temporary money and states will have to fire these new employees after a year because they can't afford them. According to these politicians who seem to want to stampede us into a fear-fit, all that is between us and anarchy in the streets, is Obamas jobs bill.. But in real actuality crime rates are down....Sorry Joe.

Instead of the fear mongering & obvious ignorance of reality, our leaders should recognize that states, cities and counties are going to have to be self sustaining to support their public sector. There is going to have to be some restructuring and finding some middle ground in order for public entities to survive.

Washington based sugar daddy grants of money only provide a temporary sugar high and end up with a depression when they come down. Too many states are so far in debt to future obligations, they will never get out.

If sane rational people don't step forward and recognize the situation is very serious and offer real solutions, there will be a wholesale amount of states and cities technically declaring bankruptcy.

Might be that the public sector is going to have to do what the private sector has always done, trim back in the lean times. Maybe if everyone took a little less there would not have to be layoffs.

Martin Luther King Monument shows Americas greatness

As thousands gathered in Washington DC to commemorate the new Martin Luther King Jr. monument, many looked upon this as a reflection of how great America is.

Many also say this memorial is a symbol of Americas acknowledgement and atonement for the many years we enslaved people simply because their skin color was different than ours. But America was too great a country to let the slavery injustice last. The underlying decency of the American spirit rose up and revolted against this cruel, inhumane practice and at great cost to our country, we had a civil war over it. Over half a million Americans died in this war.

It seems that in the course of history, great human beings appear to lead us through the tumultuous times of change. Some call it coincidence, others call it divine intervention

Abraham Lincoln was the man created for that great moment in our history. He kept our country together at grueling personal cost to himself and his family. When he first arrived in the White House prior to the outbreak of the Civil War, he was a healthy strapping man. The physical, mental and emotional torment this man suffered as President during the Civil War, reduced him to a gaunt hollow specimen by wars end. But he saw it through, kept our nation together and abolished the cruel practice of slavery But for that, he was cut down by an assassins bullet just days after the war ended. He wouldn't be around to help our nation heal its wounds and many injustices were still tearing at the fabric of our country. The civil war officially ended slavery in our country, but it didn't end an ingrained prejudice against our fellow Americans just because of the color of their skin. This persistent prejudice permeated our society for almost a hundred years, until another great man rose up to the challenge of this time. He bravely and unflinchingly strode the streets of America to say no more, to judging our Brothers and Sisters by the color of their skin, rather than the content of their character.

Whether by coincidence, or divine intervention, Martin Luther King Jr. was the chosen leader to bring our country out of the darkness of ingrained prejudice and light the path of equality for all Americans, regardless of race or creed. There would be no more riding in the back of the bus for any Americans, because of their skin color.

Martin Luther King Jr., stood up and appealed to our nations sense of decency. A sense of deceny that is always there in the spirit of America, but sometimes it just needs the right leader to draw it out.

Marin Luther King makes us proud to be Americans and his words will always echo what we stand for when he made his "I have a dream" speech: Judge not by the color of the skin, but by the content of character.

Unfortunately Martin Luther King was struck down by an assassins bullet before he could witness what his bravery had accomplished to change America forever. He died around the same time that other great leaders were cut down by assassins bullets, Brothers John and Bobby Kennedy, both leaders who wanted to see equality for all.

The social experiment known as the United States has been around for over 230 years. During this time of our existence we have been a magnet for the world and a shining beacon on the hill.
But right now our country is in perilous times and I think it is a perfect moment for a coincidence or divine intervention to guide us. Will that great leader appear in the upcoming elections? Or is that leader walking the streets of America ready to shine the light on the path we are to take. We shall see.

Time for Occupy Wall Street to leave, they are not the Tea Party

No matter how you spin it, "Occupy Wall Street" is not comparable to a Tea party grass roots gathering. I have been listening lately to those on the left who say it is their version of the Tea Party, but as many see it ,there is no comparison.

The Tea Party has a clear unified message: Lower taxes and smaller government. It's not complicated and hard to figure out, you can ask almost any participant and you will get that same general answer.

When there is a Tea Party event, people gather at a place that does not interfere with the ongoing commerce and business of a city it is being held in. There are never any arrests and people are usually very respectful. At the end of the day they, clean up any trash that may have accumulated, return to their homes, take a shower and get on with their normal lives. Tea Party members made their voices heard at the voting booths by turning the elections on their head last November.

The only people the Tea party gatherings inconvenience are the Tea Party participants themselves, who have usually taken time off of work and traveled long distances at their own expense to attend these one day events.

But the citizens of New York are not seeing the respect from the Occupy Wall Street Crowd that they would expect from the Tea party. These "occupiers" are not here for the day to gather peacefully, make a statement and leave. They are camped out in the midst of the city and want to annoy, disrupt and inconvenience the citizens of New York city.

Their general beef seems to be that corporations are evil. They have some validity to the close ties between Wall Street and Washington DC. We get it, we want change too. But the core source of the problem is Washington DC and that's where the eye should be directed. Evidently many of them have the time and outside sources of income to hang out in the city for almost a month.

Along with the general message that corporations are evil, some are demanding free medical, free educations and a living wage of 20.00 per hr. whether working or not. Also heard is the demand of canceling out of their debts and raise taxes on the "rich".

Of course Michael Moore, Inc., champion of the poor and downtrodden, has been making appearances shaking his fist at the "rich" and leading the crowds with Marxist style chants. Does anyone in the crowd know that M. Moore, Inc. is worth about 53 million himself? That could pay for quite a few living wage jobs.

Fabulously wealthy, capitalist Russell Simmons, owner of several evil corporations himself, including a debit card company, was there to speechify and condemn the "greed'.

This demonstration could have accomplished in one day some attention and support. But it is now garnering resentment from the businesses and citizens of New York who are being displaced and damaged by this invasion and occupation of their city.

Who is supposed to be watching out for the citizens of New York City? Seems city officials think the occupiers"rights" are precious. How about demanding and making sure the occupiers show some respect and responsibility to go along with those "rights"? One way to show that is by leaving the city as they found it and going to their respective homes to work within our system for change, if they don't like the way things are. Responsibilities are supposed to march shoulder to shoulder with rights.

There is a forecast of rain, is that what it's going to take to release New Yorks citizens from being hostages? Or will the Mayor step up to the plate and protect the citizens of the city he has sworn to protect?
