Dispelling liberal myths, the Tea Party is not racist and the right is not the realm of homophobes and misogynists

A protest over government spending

When Niall O’Dowd invited me to be the voice of the right at IrishCentral, I was met with complaints from those who didn’t like having a different opinion disturbing their peace and quiet… But I was also greeted with welcome from those who felt they had not previously been given a voice.  One priest even commented “praise God for Ed Farnan,” after I came aboard.

I have seen the myths put forth by my liberal colleagues, repeating stereotypes to paint all on the right with.  If you repeat something often enough, it becomes the truth, even if it is not.

The myths that are particularly galling though, are the ones claiming the Tea Party is a racist organization and the right is a breeding ground of homophobia and waging a “war on women.”

Of course, in any group there will be fringe elements, but that should never be a basis to label an entire political movement with.

For me there is nothing better than to talk to those who are directly involved in a subject in order to get their opinion…..Especially the ones that would be feeling the brunt of the racism and discrimination, if there was any.

I called  Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, someone I have deep respect for.  Reverend Peterson is the founder of BOND Action and The South Central LA Tea Party, which self-identifies as “a black-led organization that loves and supports America.”

During our phone call Reverend Peterson, couldn’t be more emphatic that the Tea Party is composed of regular American citizens, who only want to see a responsible government and fiscal sanity restored to our country. His Tea Party chapter is:”not only popular in my own community;”  he said: “I was surprised at the number of members throughout the US who joined, including many Hispanics and African Americans.”

Reverend Peterson was recently outraged when he saw claims made by Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson, comparing the Tea Party to the Ku Klux Klan.  Reverend Peterson demanded that the “race baiting Grayson apologize to Black Americans and the Tea Party for his outrageous lies.”

“Alan Grayson is playing on the worst fears of Blacks in an attempt to continue the brainwashing tactics of the Democratic Party. He knows that for more than 160 years it has been the Democrats who have used the Ku-Klux-Klan, Jim Crow, and failing liberal policies to keep many blacks on the liberal Democrat’s plantation.”  Read more here

Richard Grenell debates Kirsten Powers on Fox
My next contact was Richard Grenell.  Richard is a conservative, registered Republican, openly gay and appears frequently on Fox News as a foreign policy/security expert.  He has been interviewed on CNN, Fox News, ABC News, NBC News and many other media outlets.

I asked Richard for his opinion as a gay man in the conservative world, if he faces discrimination:

“First of all, I classify myself as a consistent conservative.  I consistently want government out of my life.  I recognize that government must act when there is no market force but should stay out when there is a desire from the private sector to do something.”

“But generally I say that the far left and the far right are both intolerant.  I have experienced it first hand.  The far left hates the fact that I am a gay conservative.  They want to keep gays in an ideological box. They alone get to decide when we get to speak up and on what issue.”

I contacted Jana Neweley.  Jana has co-written articles with me in the past and has helped research for upcoming interviews. Jana is a freelance writer of conservative political commentary.  Follow her political tweets at PimpingtheUS

As a Black, Conservative woman, I have experienced racism and intolerance over the years, encountering both White and Black racists. So, how is it possible for any one group to say to another, “You’re racist?” Yet, the Democratic Party has accused The Right of just that. Well, I accuse The Left of being intolerant, because Liberal-Dems have zero tolerance for me. Sure, they’re okay with the color of my skin, but not with the fact that my conservative values are in direct conflict with their political agenda.  If there was anything I could share with the American People, it would be Blacks ARE NOT automatically liberal.”

Female Fortune 500 CEO's
I had calls in to Carly Fiorina, Melissa Meyers and Meg Whitman, all former and present CEO’s of top American corporations.  I wanted to get a first hand account of the conservative’s war on women intended to keep them “barefoot and pregnant”….but their busy schedules prevented a comment in time for this article.

A woman is considering a run for president; hopefully she’s a conservative.  Women are governors, senators, members of Congress and very powerful in the Republican Party.  Women have assumed leadership roles in all strata of society. There is no one telling them they can’t do something. It is just another liberal fallacy to claim there is a war on women.

It’s easier to call someone a name or label them as an extremist instead of having to answer real questions about your failing policies.

Sean Hannity shows generosity, pays Obamacare worker fired for talking to him

Conservative Fox News super star Sean Hannity
Conservative Fox News super star
Sean Hannity
Radio talk show host and conservative Fox News super star Sean Hannity, showed the world a side of him that the left would pretend doesn’t exist.

During his radio show Monday afternoon, Hannity called the phone number President Obama told the public to use for help with Obamacare questions, since the website doesn’t work.

Phone worker Erling Davis answered Seans call and proceeded to field the questions about the Obamacare roll out that Sean prodded her with.

The friendly and good natured Davis truthfully answered Sean’s questions about the fiasco surrounding Obamacare….and it seems that was her downfall. None of her answers cast the Obamacare roll out in a good light, especially when asked by Sean if any of her callers like the plan and she said not really. Hear dialogue

Hannity had Ms Davis on his show today to ask if there were repercussions from speaking to him on his national radio show.  She explained the next morning, she was taken to a Human Resources meeting and told she was fired. The reason given for her firing was “contact with the media.”

According to Ms Davis, she was never told during her training that she was forbidden from taking calls from the media. “I was just out here trying to help everybody,” she told Hannity.

If you think about it,  Ms. Davis was doing a better job of informing the public about Obamacare than the administrations has been doing.  She answered questions about the healthcare system and its website  heard by millions of Americans listening to Hannity’s radio show.

Upon hearing that Ms Davis had lost her job as a result of talking to him on national radio, Sean Hannity pledged to send her the year’s salary  (26,000) that she would have made if she remained at her job and also promised to find her a new job.

Ms. Davis was grateful for the help from Sean. Being a single mother of two suddenly losing her job was a fearful event for her, but Hannity took her under his wing and protected her.

Hannity said: “I’m very sorry that you had to go through that. I don’t want you to have to pay a price just for taking our call. So I want to help you out here.”

This isn’t the first time Sean Hannity has helped out people that he feels need a break and has shown his generosity many times this way.  Bu he is also known as a generous philanthropist behind the scenes as well and many can attest to that.

But it also magnifies a stark fact that if you speak out against President Obama or his policies, you will pay a price for speaking the truth.

A country that does not control its borders….Is no longer a country

There are those in the community who would gladly grant 40 million "illegals" amnesty in order to get a few thousands of their own in.

President Obama, fresh off his victory of ramming an untouched Obamacare past a recalcitrant congress, has set his sights on pushing “immigration reform” through.

Obama and his allies on the left, have their eyes on the prize of gaining millions of dependable new Democrat voters, who would permanently tilt the political tables in their favor.

Those on the right, who back big business, see the gain of having access to cheap labor.

But who is looking out for the citizens of the United States?

Contrary to the politicians rosy estimates of just 11 million illegals amongst us, other authoritative sources claim that number is closer to 40 million. See Tim Donnelly and immigration.

40 million, many uneducated, low skilled immigrants given access to benefits (Obamacare), SNAP & other entitlements for their children, with eventual citizenship and voting rights, is a game changer for the country….

……A game changer of borders, language and culture. especially if overwhelming numbers of those immigrants are from third world countries….Or countries in Europe who expect a nanny state government to provide them with “entitlements.”

Little is said in the media of how porous our borders really are. But in many locations along our southern border, anyone can walk into our country; we do not know who they are, or where they came from. See: Border Like No Country For Old Men

Yet politicians with an agenda like Senator Chuck Schumer say they’ll address the porous borders, after amnesty is granted to those here illegally….That is the same as slamming the barn door after the cows have escaped.

The borders need to be locked down now, securely, first and foremost before any talk of what to do with those already here illegally.

No country retains its character if it does not control its borders AND who it allows to settle within those borders. The Roman Empire found that out the hard way, other countries throughout history have learned this and countries of the EU are experiencing it right now.

US immigration policy should be focused on: What is best for the United States and encourage the best and brightest from around the world to become citizens.

The practice/abuse of “anchor babies” needs to end….The United States is the only country in the world stupid enough to let itself be exploited this way. If your parents are non citizens and you happen to come out here, you are not automatically a citizen of the US.

Turn the visa system and green cards over to the private sector to manage, the government is incompetent. Companies like American Express/Master Card or Visa, know how to manage cards, they will not allow overstays, or other abuses of our immigration laws.

Republicans can say 'we told you so' as Obamacare is inflicted on America

President Obama and his Democrat colleagues must take all of the credit as Nancy Pelosi’s promise: “we will find out what is in Obamacare after it is passed,” starts to become reality.

Since not one Republican voted for Obamacare and Republicans were shut out of putting any input into Obamacare, the credit and or blame will fall appropriately

The President made all kinds of promises as he sold Obamacare to the people of the United States.
But it seems like most of them have fallen by the wayside as promises face the dawning of reality.

Were these claims the President made, honest miscalculations? Or were they cynical lies designed to get a gullible public to accept a government takeover of our healthcare system?

According to the latest estimates, Obamacare will cost around $2.6 trillion over the next 10 years, nearly $1.7 trillion more than Obama’s initial promise of $900 billion.

President Obama’s claim that if you like your existing healthcare plan, you can keep that plan is proving utterly false as Obamacare gets unveiled.  Millions of Americans are getting rude shocks as employers start to drop their plans and force employees into the new healthcare exchanges.

He also promised if you liked your doctor, you could keep your doctor…Period!  But of course that whopper has fallen to the wayside as people are kicked off their existing healthcare plans and new plans don't include their doctor.

President Obama claimed the average healthcare premium savings would be 2,500 per family.  That claim is proving to be bogus as families get sticker shock from the new healthcare plans with Obamacare mandates.  To add insult to injury, many of these plans have huge deductibles that must be paid before the insurance kicks in.

Most Americans will soon forget this latest budget impasse and the resultant government “shutdown.”  The negativity directed toward the Republicans who tried to block or make changes to Obamacare before it gets implemented will swiftly pass in the coming weeks and months.

But in a little over a year, the all important midterm elections will occur; with House and Senate seats up for grabs…

The quotes below from two naive supporters of Obamacare just discovering huge increase in healthcare premiums may prove ominous for Democrats trying to retain their seats:

One surprised Obama supporter said:“Of course, I want people to have health care I just didn’t realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.”  Or another who received a rude shock in the mail:  “I was laughing at Boehner until the mail came today.”

What will be fresh on American workers and voters minds as the November elections arrive, will be who has raised their taxes and who is responsible for the huge increases in their healthcare costs.....They will also remember who tried to keep their taxes lower and tried to warn them about Obamacare.

The House Republicans are the adults in the room when it comes to debt talks

Fed handouts destroying America’s full faith and credit
Fed handouts destroying America’s full faith and credit
President Obama's minions call conservative House Republicans  jihadists, arsonists and terrorists.  He claims they will harm America’s full faith and credit by demanding fundamental changes to the out of control spending in Washington.

Conservative Republican House members claim raising the debt ceiling by a trillion to 18 trillion, 600 billion annual deficits and having the Fed pump 85 billion phantom bucks monthly into the market, are sure ways of destroying America’s full faith and credit.

But on top of all of this is another huge expense getting enacted this month that will add trillions of additional expense to America in the form of Obamacare.

Americans, who have a basic concept of economics, a knowledge of history and how debt has destroyed mighty nations in the past, see the reckless spending in Washington as immoral and irresponsible. They don’t want to see their children become indentured servants to debt incurred today in order to fund America’s present lifestyles.

Current debt is getting close to Italian levels in ratio.  Italy is an economic basket case, run into the ground by left wing socialist policies and unchecked union power ….Italy, formerly the seat of the Roman Empire, used to be the greatest nation on earth 2,000 years ago and thought it would last forever, until the advent of “bread and circuses.” There are many other examples of great nations collapsing, or even wars starting due to out of control debt.

Conservative Republican House members have been holding the line when it comes to checking the out of control spending in Washington. They want some accountability and some responsibility.

In spite of intense pressure from the White House, its allies in the media and big government politicians of both parties…these House members will demand some economic concessions from the Obama administration, before they give up their leverage.

It’s a sad note to see that our leadership has devolved to the point that just one segment of the three branches of government, has any sense of responsibility when it comes to holding the line against irresponsible spending.

Government “shutdown” a boon for Americans, the war on energy has a lull

From the emotional headlines, you would think America is in dire straights from a government “shutdown.”  But as usual the truth is masked by the headlines and can be found in the print of the details.

In reality only 18% of the government is “shutdown” and the rest of it is humming along as usual, getting automatic funding by rules in place to safeguard our system.

Entitlement checks are on schedule, our armed forces are funded, coasts are guarded and all other critical services essential to running our government are functioning, including the White House chef and dog walker. See White House in shutdown

Most of the high profile government layoffs are for employees deemed “non essential,” yet even these employees will suffer no long term ill effects, as they will get full pay and benefits for staying home when government "reopens."…Basically these non essential employees are getting paid vacations.

If American citizens thought there would be some sort of savings from having a government shutdown, on the surface it appears there is none.

But if you look at just one government agency that has a profound effect on the cost of living for all Americans, you can see there is a silver lining.

The Environmental Protection Agency has deemed that over 93% of its employees are “non essential” and have sent them home.

The EPA has been the surrogate bludgeon President Obama has used to wage war on the fossil energy sector, particularly America’s main source of fuel for its electrical energy: coal.

After President Obama was thwarted by members of his own party to impose a crippling carbon tax on the energy industry, he declared a backdoor war of regulations with the end goal of punishing all forms of fossil energy…..All being waged under the guise of his “climate action plan,” which particularly singles out the coal industry.

President Obama did declare his policies would make energy prices necessarily skyrocket and we can see where these policies are leading as Europe and UK citizens struggle under a new devastating economic condition known as “energy poverty.” See:Soaring energy costs make Europeans poor

“Among those furloughed at the EPA would be most workers at the Office of Air and Radiation, which is in charge of writing and implementing most of the EPA's major air pollution rules. Also facing furloughs is the unit of the EPA that enforces regulations by taking legal action against an air or water polluter. Just 182 of the enforcement unit's 804 employees are exempted from furloughs.”  See Reuters article-EPA to be hit hard in shutdown

This brief respite might prove a welcome relief for the blanket of regulations and litigation that add untold expense every time you switch on a light bulb, or start your car to go to work.
